What does the ESSENTIAL test analyse?
The ESSENTIAL health and well-being test analyses 20 markers of the most important areas of our body: lipid, liver, renal and diabetic profiles, haemogram and biochemistry. We also offer a COMPREHENSIVE health and well-being test that includes a thyroid and iron profiles, vitamin and mineral levels, as well as other more advanced parameters such as lipid profile, diabetic profile and biochemical reference values.
To determine your cardiovascular risk, we analyse your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world, which is why it is so important to check these markers annually.
We analyse different markers that allow us to assess and monitor liver function. Liver-related diseases include hepatitis or cirrhosis.
We assess kidney function through different markers. The renal profile consists of a set of tests necessary to assess kidney function. It measures a number of substances in the blood, including electrolytes, minerals and proteins to assess your health.
The parameters of this profile include fasting plasma glucose or the HbA1C test for glycated haemoglobin, both of which help to assess your diabetes risk or diabetes status. It is important to remember that plasma glucose testing is performed after fasting for at least 6 hours.
A complete haemogram can help diagnose the cause of signs and symptoms, such as weakness, fatigue, fever, swelling, bruising or bleeding. This panel of values can also help confirm suspicions of infection.
It analyses parameters that indicate the presence of inflammatory processes in the body, such as uric acid – which, if high, can lead to renal problems.
